Effective January 1, 2025, the City of Lindsborg will launch a new Interactive Voice Response System (IVR) for taking debit and credit card payments over the phone. When you call into City Hall, there will be a prompt that will take you directly to the IVR system or you will be transferred to it by one of the city staff when you wish to make a payment over the phone.
Security is a top concern in today’s world of ever-changing technology. This self-service system is a safety benefit to help keep your financial information secure by allowing you to directly input the information into your phone without speaking it out loud or sharing it with another person. City staff will no longer take debit/credit card information over the phone but will offer to send you to the IVR system instead.
While working through the prompts within the IVR system, you will need to have your account number within reach as it will ask for that information. Also, you have the option to save your credit card information to proceed through more quickly the next time you choose to use that payment option.
As with the online payment portal, the IVR system will assess a service fee on all debit and credit card payments. The IVR service fee is $1.25 per transaction. The City will continue to pay the credit/debit card processing fees from the card companies no matter what payment option you choose. When paying in person with a debit or credit card, no fees will be assessed.
Other ways to pay your city bill:
Online: Payment portal or gain access through the city website. There is a new debit/credit card autopay option available online. Fee required per transaction.
In person: Payments can be made at City Hall Monday-Friday between 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. No payments will be taken after 4:30 p.m.
ACH: Sign up for the ACH withdrawal service. Payment will automatically be withdrawn from your checking/savings account on the due date day each month. No fee for this service.
Drop box: Place your payment in the secure drop box outside the north doors of City Hall by the stairs.
Mail: Mail your payments through the postal service. Be advised, payments not received in the office by the due date are considered late and will be assessed penalty fees.
