A Message About Our Chief
Chief Michael Davis has dedicated over 28 years of his life serving the public as a law enforcement officer. He started his career as a Deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in 1991. He worked with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for 4 years in the Custody Division. He was awarded the Department’s Medal of Courage for an off-duty shooting incident in 1992 in Los Angeles County. In 1995, Chief Davis made a lateral move to the Whittier Police Department where he started his career there as a patrolmen. Assignments with the Whittier Police Department included the Crime Impact Team, Detective, Internal Affairs and Administration. Chief Davis was promoted to Sergeant in 2004, Lieutenant in 2008 and Captain in 2011. As a Captain, Chief Davis worked as the Patrol Division Commander until 2018 at which time he assumed command over the Department’s Investigative Division and Santa Fe Springs Contracted Policing Team. Chief Davis retired from the Whittier Police Department in 2019. On December 16, 2019 he was sworn in as the new Police Chief/Director of Public Safety for the City of Lindsborg.
Chief Davis is a member of the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police, the Kansas Peace Officers Association, the International Association of Chief of Police, and the FBI – Law Enforcement Executive Development Association. He has also been a member on other professional associations including the National Internal Affairs Investigators Association, Southern California Financial Crimes Investigators Association, International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators and High Tech Crimes Investigators Association. Chief Davis holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Chief Davis also holds a Vocation Credential in Criminal Justice from the State of California.
Chief Davis is originally from Norwalk, California. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Army from 1987 – 1990 as an infantryman and paratrooper. His station assignments included Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Polk Louisiana and Fort Kobbe, Panama. While stationed in Panama, Chief Davis took part in Operation Just Cause; the liberation of Panama. In 1990, Chief Davis discharged from active duty and joined the California Army National Guard where he served from 1990 – 1995. He was deployed twice with the California Army National Guard; in 1992 during the Los Angeles Riots and in 1994 during the Northridge earthquake. He honorably discharged from military service in 1995 after fulfilling his military commitment and receiving multiple awards and commendations. In his free time, Chief Davis enjoys golfing, bowling, softball and camping.
Chief Davis moved to Lindsborg, Kansas in 2019 to be closer to his children and grandson. He loves the town of Lindsborg and echoes the sentiments that the City of Lindsborg offers a wonderful environment for people to live and raise a family in. The City of Lindsborg is safe community that offers modern health and retirement facilities, educational opportunities, the arts and entertainment and future residential growth. The Lindsborg community is dedicated to providing hospitality that is second to none!
