  1. New Exhibits at the Sandzen Art Gallery

    New exhibitions open at the Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery on Saturday, August 5, 2017, with a reception that evening from 5 to 7 p.m. and artist talks beginning at 5:30. Featured shows include paintings by Mike Hartung of Lindsborg and Ernest Vincent Wood III of Wichita. Additional exhibitions include works by early Estes Park, Colorado, artist Dean Babcock; Swedish prints from the Powers Collection; and a juried show of Kansas Artist Craftsmen Association members.

  2. Red Barn Studio Artists in Residence, Maud & Alf Brorson

    October 5 - October 19 @ Red Barn Studio Museum

    Swedish textile artist, Maud Brorson and husband, Alf Brorson both of Torsby in the province of V?rmland, will be the Artists-in-Residence at the Red Barn Studio Museum from Thursday, October 5-Thursday, October 19. Maud Brorson intends to show old yarn techniques such as needle binding and will be making textile bags. Her specialty is making leather handbags and purses of her own design (appliqué,) Brorson’s talents also include weaving, ornamental needlework, vegetable dyeing fibers, lace making, crochet work, macramé, hand and machine knitting, and Flemish weaving and dressmaking. Of his residency, writer Alf Brorson, Maud’s husband says, “Having a first-page monthly column (A Sweden Letter) in the Lindsborg News-Record, my intention is also to meet the readership and stay in touch with the City of Lindsborg and the Smoky Valley people. The Red Barn Studio is open from Tuesday through Friday, 10AM to 5PM and Saturday and Sunday 1PM to 5PM and by appt.

  4. 25th Annual Falun Classic Bicycle Ride

    October 8, 1:00 PM @ Swensson Park

    The Falun Classic is an annual bicycle ride that starts and ends in Lindsborg, Kansas, with 32 miles on a loop through the town of Falun on paved roads. The ride begins and ends at the Swensson Park in Lindsborg located on N Main Street. The Falun Classic is sponsored by the McPherson Area Cyclist and helps raise funds for local cycling infrastructure and advocacy work. View the fall foliage, enjoy riding with friends, old and new, complete the ride with sag stops and lunch in Swenssen Park. A portion of this years proceeds will go to road improvements at Coronado Heights. On site registration starts at 1:00 with the ride starting at 1:30.

  5. Kansas State University Saxophone Chamber Music Program and Dr. Anna Marie Wytko

    October 8, 2:00 PM @ Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery

    The Kansas State University Saxophone Chamber Music Program was established and is directed by Dr. Anna Marie Wytko, associate professor of saxophone at KSU. The group is comprised of bachelor, master, and doctoral collegiate level saxophone students. Numerous saxophone quartets within this program have received national recognition from the nation’s top chamber music competitions and have performed at the North American Saxophone Alliance National Conference and the Kansas Music Educators’ Association Conference. They have also presented numerous concerts at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art and the Manhattan Arts Center in Manhattan, Kansas. The ensemble will be performing at the Birger Sandzén Memorial Art Gallery, 401 North First Street, at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 8. There is no charge for the concert; however, donations are appreciated.
